With the donation of hand disinfectant, Harro Höfliger Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH is contributing to counteracting the shortages in nursing homes and care facilities Rems-Murr district in Germany. The disinfectant is mixed and filled by employees of the Pharma Services division in the in-house clean rooms according to WHO recommendations. During the Corona crisis, only the company’s own requirements were covered up to now.

The delivery of the 5-liter canisters and 1-liter bottles is carried out by the staff of the machine manufacturer. “Our appeal on the intranet met with an overwhelming response. Many relatives of our employees work in nursing care themselves and have told us that the most necessary things are missing,” says CEO Thomas Weller. He emphasizes that the finished product will be donated only: “In view of the critical situation in nursing homes and facilities for the elderly as well as in the ambulatory services, we are pleased to be able to help quickly and unbureaucratically. We have the necessary premises at our disposal in addition to the specialist pharmaceutical staff and are now using this specifically to provide the best possible protection for the most vulnerable people.”

This commitment is part of a comprehensive solidarity program of Harro Höfliger with clinics and care facilities. Already in March, a donation of more than 5,000 pairs of disposable gloves from the Pharma Services stocks went to the Rems-Murr-Klinikum Winnenden. In addition, the company, whose customers are mainly from the pharmaceutical and medical technology industry, provided fleece coats, overalls, hoods, and overshoes. Usually, the Pharma Services team – one of several departments under the umbrella of Process Services – conducts risk management trials for customers, using active pharmaceutical substances where necessary. Extensive product analyses can be carried out in our own laboratory. The employees offer support in galenic development, filling process development or format design, for example. Their services are also in demand during factory acceptance tests (FAT) in the clean rooms or at the customer’s site.
