We at Reitech were really touched by the fire disaster that had struck the community in Hout Bay. So we and Pouch Dynamics, one of our neighbour companies in Capricorn Park, decided to collect a “bakkie-load” of food, clothing and blankets to support the fire victims.
What we saw in Hout Bay was unbelievable. The scale of the relief work is massive. Companies are sending in trucks, and individuals stop by to unload contributions. The Shoreline Church has been converted into a warehouse for donated goods. The person in charge of the logistics of this warehouse e.g. lives in Sunset Beach. He is on leave for an extended period and drives through every day to manage the coordination. Many of the helpers are volunteers.
