The main advantage of our shredders is that material, typically waste material, can be substantially reduced in volume, making handling, transportation and storage of such material much cheaper than were it not shredded before.
Volume of material would be reduced to between a quarter (25%) and a seventh (14.5%) of its original size, depending on material.
Mercodor shredders are in contrast to small shredders for office use or garden refuse and to very large shredders for e.g. cars.
Typically throughputs are a few hundred kg of material per hour with the smallest standard machine handling from 50kg/h and the largest up to 2000kg/h, depending on material properties.
Apart from the cutting chamber, which is the core of the machine and the centre of Mercodor's know-how, every shredder requires a frame, an infeed chute, discharge chute, a drive and protective guards. Reitech can manufacture all these items locally. Furthermore, the hardened tool steel blades, which wear over time, can be sharpened on Reitech's grinding machines.
All larger shredders may need a mechanized or automated feeding and possibly a discharge system. Depending on applications this requires conveyor belts, chutes, feeders, bin tipper, sieves and metal detectors. It also requires overall engineering and layout.
